She laughs, “Awesome~”
“Hopefully I don’t live with anyone else who’s allergic,” he said, seriously thinking about this. He probably would try to help out a lot of his old friends if he ever got rich.
“If they are, I can get one cat and keep it in my room or outside.”
“We’ll just have to wait and see I guess… Once I save up more money I guess I should probably try to go to college or something,” he said, thinking about how long he was likely to have in this body. If he was never going to get old, then he should at least prepare for the future he did get. He could get a higher paying job with college, and hopefully one where it was a little more…legal.
She laughs a little, “Heh, college is a far off dream for me. I’d never be smart enough to get through and never good enough to get the job I want.” She had tried college once, and flunked out. That’s how she knew her only chance was as a prostitute.
“Hey, there are still a lot of jobs that don’t require college. They seem to be disappearing though, so if I’m still planning on being alive and looking in my twenties a hundred years from now, I’ll need to be smart enough. Of course, any college degree I get will by then seem fake… Great, I’ll have to go to college multiple times probably. Or just get a fake degree…,” he said, thinking about his future in a bit of a different light. How would he deal with never looking older? What about his family and friends? Some of his friends knew, in fact most of them did, but his family was another matter entirely.
“Jobs like flipping patties on a grill. And that’s a different thought. Maybe you’ll be able to fake your degree. It seems pointless to go to college multiple times.”
“Hey, if you stuck with it long enough maybe you’d get to be manager just through seniority,” he said with a shrug. “And that would probably be cheaper.. Unless of course I got caught. Depending on the job, that could prove to be a lot worse.”
